Independent publisher Honford Star has secured two new books from author-translator duo Bora Chung and Anton Hur, including the previous collaboration cursed rabbit (Honford Star) was shortlisted for the Booker International Prize and won a PEN/Heim Prize.

Originally released in Korean in 2021, To meet her is a collection of stories that translator Hur describes as “about fascinating, monstrous, hilarious and moving women and other non-men”. Taylor Bradley acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Chung’s text from Toni Greenbook Literary Agency, with translation rights acquired directly from Hur.

To meet herslated for release in late 2023, is described by Chung as being “more sci-fi with non-human and/or dehumanized protagonists” than Cursed bunny. Hur warns: “To meet her is not for the cowardly or the cowered. Only the brave can face the horror of our current masculine/feminine straitjacket to come out the other side dreaming of a more wonderful and amazing future than today.

A second standalone novel, as yet untitled, will be published in 2024.

Honford Star co-founder Bradley said: “We are delighted to be working with Bora and Anton again, but above all it is great news for the large number of readers who have loved cursed rabbit.”
