Alan Ritchson dropped a big hint on Wednesday morning about which of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels Season 2 of Prime Video’s hit adaptation will follow.

the Reach star tweeted but a photo of ceramic brass knuckles and a blade (below) – which fans of the novels might recognize as belonging to David O’Donnell, the member of Reacher’s former 110th MP unit who features in Bad luck and troublethe 11th book in the series.

Prime Video later confirmed the news, adding that in addition to Ritchson, Maria Sten (Swamp Thing) will also return for Season 2, as Frances Neagley. Filming will begin this fall.

The blanket jump slaughter area, from the first Reacher novel, season 1, to the 11th book, season 2, is not unexpected. “Don’t assume we’re going chronologically, and don’t assume we’re not going chronologically,” showrunner Nick Santora told TVLine in February.

Released in 2009, Bad luck and trouble (per Amazon.com’s synopsis of the book) finds Reacher “lifted out of his wandering life and into the heart of a conspiracy that kills old friends…and people he once trusted.” The story begins when Neagley contacts Reacher using a signal only the eight members of their elite team would know. She then tells him a terrifying story about the brutal death of a man they both served with. Soon, Reacher reunites with the survivors of his team, scrambling to unravel the sudden disappearance of two other comrades.

Prime Video’s official teaser for Season 2 of the streaming series, meanwhile, simply says, “When the members of Reacher’s former military unit start dying, Reacher has only one thing in mind: revenge. “

Reach was renewed almost instantly after its premiere, due to its high number of views – it was the first Prime Video series to claim the top spot on Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 chart, amassing 1.6 billion minutes watched in just eight episodes – and a refreshingly warm reception from fans of the source material.

“I think the show was well received because Lee Child created an amazing character,” Santora said after the renewal. “Jack Reacher is more than unique. He’s very different from any other literary character that’s out there, and I hope people now think he’s different from other characters on TV.
