Former President Bill Clinton and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus are among those providing blurbs for The value of water, on which the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker worked with civil and environmental engineer Gary White. Damon has been a prominent spokesperson for sanitation since his visit to Zambia in 2006, and with White, he founded the non-profit organizations Water.org and WaterEquity.

Damon and White met at a Clinton Global Initiative meeting in 2008.

“We are delighted to have written this book together, and we look forward to sharing the story of what happens when a film actor and a civil engineer team up to try to tackle the global crisis of water – the stumbles and the obstacles, the breakthroughs and the big wins, and the amazing people we’ve met along the way, ”Damon and White said in a statement Tuesday.

“Our trip proved two things: First, solving the water crisis is possible – in our lifetime. And second, the key is to unleash the incredible determination and ingenuity of the people who fight for essential things like clean water and sanitation every day.

According to the book’s publisher, the Penguin Random House Footprint Portfolio, “The Value of Water” will highlight “the challenges of creating and scaling market-based financial solutions to make more accessible drinking water and sanitation. And finally, it is the story of how communities and individuals can be empowered to make sustainable investments in their own well-being.
