MEDINA, Ohio – The Medina County District Library offers an intriguing selection of holiday programs throughout December.

Letters to Santa, Reindeer Food & Elf on the Shelf: From December 1 to 22, all library locations.

Snuggle up and read: December 1 to 29. Create an enjoyable evening for children in need by donating new books and pajamas at any MCDL location. Volunteers will wrap the pajamas with a book and then distribute them to children in Medina County.

Winter Tales: Starting December 1: MCDL is offering two StoryWalks – one at Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park, 4985 Windfall Road in Medina (in partnership with Medina County Parks) and the other behind Eliza Northrop Elementary School, 950 E. Reagan Pkwy in Medina (with the Schools of the city of Medina).

Take a short walk through a wooded area and read “A Polar Bear in the Snow” by Mac Barnett on a series of storyboards. Walking encourages literacy, physical activity and family time. The same book is featured in both locations.

Lodi Library’s Winter Wonderland: 4-7 p.m. December 3 in Lodi Village Square. Start your holiday season with a visit from Santa, reindeer from Spring Mist Farms, horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, crafts, a bonfire and treats! Held in conjunction with the Village of Lodi Village, the Lodi Harrisville Historical Society and the Lodi Railroad Museum.

Gingerbread House Contest: December 5-19. All ages. Submit a photo of your gingerbread house to rathbun@mcdl.info for a chance to win a prize.

Santa’s Elf Workshop: 6-7:30 p.m. December 8 at Buckeye Library, 6625 Wolff Road in Medina. All ages with an adult guide. Calling all Santa’s elves: Join the staff of the “North Pole” for crafts, caroling and holiday fun with Santa’s special guest.

Visit with Santa Claus: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 to Library of Medina, 210 S. Broadway St. in Medina. All ages. Santa Claus is coming to town! Bring your list and your cameras for a nice visit with the gentleman from the North Pole.

Picture book bulbs: 10:30 a.m. on December 12 at the Medina Library. 3 years and over. Make a beautiful ornament for your tree with picture book pages.

Ghosts of Christmas Past: 6:30 p.m. on December 12 at the Highland Library, 4160 Ridge Road in Medina. Enjoy a Victorian holiday season and explore the ghosts and folklore that shaped 19th century vacations in Cleveland. Presented by the Western Reserve Historical Society.

Gingerbread Building: 6:00 p.m. on December 13 at the Medina Library. 5 years and over. Decorate a gingerbread house. Bring candies to share and decorate your creations.

Santa’s Night: 6:00 p.m. on December 13 at the Library of Seville, 45 Center Street in Seville. All ages. Visit with Father Christmas and Mrs. Claus. Don’t forget to bring your list.

Vacations with Pete the Cat Story Time: 10:30 a.m. on December 14 at the Buckeye Library. 2-5 years. Stories about everyone’s favorite cat, Pete! Snacks and activities.

Story time at noon: 11:30 a.m. on December 29 at the Medina Library. All ages. Stories, songs and falling confetti when the clock strikes 12, that is!
