Author/Illustrator Visit to Deering Community Center

Paris Public Library Librarian Jennifer Lewis receives a check from Sarah Wilson, manager of the Paris branch of Dirigo Federal Credit Union, covering the full cost of the series of author/illustrator visits.

AREA — The Paris Public Library and the Dirigo Federal Credit Union are hosting a series of visits by children’s authors and illustrators on Wednesday afternoons this summer at the Deering Memorial Community Center. Presentations will begin at 1 p.m. Guests will read excerpts from their works, explain their personal creative processes and talk about how children’s picture books are made.

On Wednesday, July 27, local author/illustrator Alexandra Thompson will be visiting. She is the author/illustrator of her own book A family for Louie and was the illustrator of The great success of Ben and Emmawritten by California Governor Gavin Newsom with Ruby Shamir.

On Wednesday August 10, the famous author/illustrator Chris Van Dusen is visiting. In addition to being Kate DiCamillo’s illustrator Thanks Watson series and other books, Mr. Van Dusen writes and illustrates his own series and books, including the “If I build» series and the Mr Magee series. His most recent book is Big truck, small islandwhere creative thinking and sharing save the day.

On Wednesday, August 17, award-winning author/illustrator Matt Tavares will be visiting. He illustrated 23 books, eleven of which he was also the author. His love of baseball shines through in his works. He has a mid-level graphic novel, Hoops, coming out next year.
